Two Minutes With… Ellie Kempson

Describe your remit and responsibilities as Business Development Manager for Traffic Management

My role involves handling existing Traffic Management & Utilities customers across the UK, as well as looking to acquire new business in the TM&U sector. The TM industry is very competitive and demanding and I really enjoy the challenges of dealing with this sector of our business and the existing customers we have acquired.

What do you enjoy most about working for Asset Alliance Group?

I love getting to meet and work with a wide range of people, whether that is colleagues or customers. Working within the TM sector comes with its challenges, however creating new relationships both internally, through the support of other departments, and externally with new and existing customers, makes it all worthwhile!

What’s the best thing about your team/department?

Working across many depots means I get to experience different types of office environments and speak to many people across the business. Mainly being based at our Trafford Park site, as we are a smaller team, means that everyone is always willing to help one another and I can always rely on them for support.

Can you offer an example of the positive company culture at AAG and supportive management?

During my time at AAG, I have worked across different departments, allowing me to develop my understanding of the company and how each division fits together. Each of my previous roles has helped me to build confidence in my current one, thanks to the assistance of colleagues and managers.

Who or what inspires you in your day to day work?

I am inspired by my Dad. Growing up, I always knew what his job was, but never realised how difficult it can be until entering the industry myself. He has taught me how to be resilient, deal with external pressures and most importantly to have faith in my own ability. I am eternally grateful that I get his support both in and outside of work and definitely wouldn’t be where I am today without his encouragement.

Describe yourself in five words?

Tenacious, focused, enthusiastic, composed and talkative!

Who is your role model or hero outside work, and why?

It’s my big sister. We are like chalk and cheese. She spends her time travelling the world and has just finished building her own campervan (not my forte!), to continue her travels whilst working remotely. She really is the epitome of following your dreams and she inspires and pushes me to achieve mine, even when we are on opposite sides of the world!

Describe your perfect day off, what do you like to do?

It is usually spent cooking. As I am mostly travelling during the week, I don’t always get much time to cook. So I love being able to take my time and try new recipes at the weekends. I am also a massive foodie, so going to new restaurants with my partner or friends is my favourite thing to do!
