Positives from the pandemic

Tim Banks – Group Operations & Health and Safety Manager

It’s been almost two years since the pandemic took hold in the UK, and we’ve been reflecting on the changes we’ve made within our business in that time.

And, as we’re an optimistic team by nature, we’ve been looking for the positives we can take from it – and certainly from a health and safety perspective, there are several.

Of course, Q1 2020 brought with it a set of changes no one could have anticipated, as well as a good degree of shock!

But quick thinking and proactivity meant our teams were able to introduce a host of new initiatives, including increased use of PPE and associated products to ensure our colleagues and customers stayed safe, while continuing to deliver excellent levels of customer service.

While hand gel, social distancing and protective screens are almost second nature to us now, we’ll strive to build upon what we have learned in line with our overall business goals of continuous improvement.

Ongoing training will form an important part of this and I’m pleased to say that every member of our team has already completed their DSE (Display Screen Equipment) training.

Further modules that cover different areas of our business will be made available online throughout the year to ensure health and safety remains a key focus for all colleagues, allowing us to stay vigilant in maintaining standards going forwards.

And, with this in mind, we’d like to thank all our staff and our customers for working with us on keeping everyone safe while on site or when carrying out essential support.
