While the last 12 months have been incredibly challenging for the transport industry, they have also brought opportunity to our sector with incredibly rapid growth in the demand for road transport, general haulage and final mile deliveries.

Of course, the closure of bricks and mortar shops has been a major factor in this growth and meant vast numbers of operators needed to quickly extend or upgrade their fleet to meet demand.

Yet with manufacturing paused at the start of the pandemic and some OEMs quoting up to 12 months for delivery, many operators turned to a much more immediate solution in the form of Used Trucks.

At Asset Alliance Group we have seen consistently high demand for Used Trucks over the past 12 months, and I’m really proud of the service we have been able to provide.

We offer everything from one-off tractor units to entire truck and trailer fleets, and our range spans one-tonne vans through to 44-tonne tractor units and curtainsiders – and everything in between!

At any one time we have 5,000 vehicles in our fleet and we always carefully balance this stock with a mix of manufacturers and specs to ensure we can give our customers what they need, and most importantly, exactly when they need it.

We also work hard to keep our Used Truck stock fresh. We now have tractor units on our books that are just 18-months old – something not all providers can offer.

For us, it’s a process of linking up our contract hire, leasing and finance functions with the sales and rental side of the Group.

And because our Used Truck stock largely comprises ex-contract hire trucks, we actively invest heavily in newer stock as we know what will be returning to us and available to sell in a year, two years or three years. This gives us huge opportunities to cross-sell and grow further.

We’re also passionate about getting the best life out of Used Trucks and alongside certainty of supply, customers are now – more than ever before – focusing on access to parts and ongoing support.

And while me and my team remain committed to continually raising the standards of Used Trucks in the marketplace, we are also incredibly grateful for the efforts of the entire road transport sector who have literally kept the wheels turning over a 12-month period none of us will ever forget.
