Describe your remit and responsibilities as National Rental Manager
I joined Asset Alliance Group (AAG) six years ago as Senior Sales and Rental Co-Ordinator and became Depot Manager at our Ipswich site. This has proved invaluable ahead of assuming the newly created role of National Rental Manager. This sees me spearheading AAG’s renewed focus on commercial vehicle rental, as part of a refocusing of key business activities led by Andrew Morley, our Commercial Vehicle and Leasing Director. I am building both our rental fleet and the dedicated team to drive our proposition forward nationally.
What do you enjoy most about working for AAG?
My roles to date have meant that no two days are alike, and there’s always been the expectation within the business that we help where and when we can, which I love. Yes, you have a job title but if there is something that needs doing, it’s all hands on deck. This ethos is one I’ll be looking to instil and develop in my rental team.
What’s the best thing about your team/department?
Over time many colleagues I work with have become friends. There’s a really good company culture at AAG that is genuine in its commitment to support individuals. We all look after one another and check in with each other, and not every workplace has that environment.
Can you offer an example of the positive company culture at AAG?
A simple but powerful example would be that during Mental Health Awareness Week we took time out as a team to walk and talk as we made our way around Needham Lake. And all had lunch together it was a great opportunity to spend time together.
What has been your biggest personal achievement in your role?
Running the Ipswich depot. Initially I had imposter syndrome as I was responsible for all the selling at the depot and the running of the site. Despite performing the role, in the occasional quiet moments the responsibility would creep up on you and hit home while sitting in the office. Making a success of the role was a massive personal achievement. I’ll always have a soft spot for Ipswich but am really pleased that I had the opportunity to develop staff there and leave it in very safe hands.
Describe yourself in three words.
Driven, determined, confident.
Describe your perfect day off, what do you like to do?
My perfect day off is one where there’s little structure to it. By necessity things are very organised at work, so a day off where I can just go with the flow, with nothing overly planned other than getting out there and enjoying the day with family is ideal.
