Describe your remit and responsibilities as Fleet Maintenance Control Supervisor?
It involves making sure my team does the following to an excellent standard: monitors costs coming into the business; secures the agreed labour and parts rate as per our service level agreements from suppliers; chases VOR vehicles to minimise downtime; and sets any damage items not covered in the customer contracts to be recharged back to them.
What do you enjoy most about working for Asset Alliance Group?
I really enjoy working for a company that cares about its staff and is interested in supporting employees to improve themselves within their roles and work environment to achieve their potential. I had never experienced this before in the other businesses for which I’ve worked.
What’s the best thing about your team/department?
My team works well together; colleagues are always willing to help each other at busy moments. As the department is fast-paced and a bit stressful at times, it’s nice that everyone pulls together to get the daily tasks done. I like working with the customers and suppliers and have built up a good rapport with them.
Can you offer an example of the positive company culture at AAG and supportive management?
AAG is interested in looking after employees on a personal basis, not just for the role they play within the business. It’s great that the directors and management are comfortable interacting with all members of staff. I especially enjoyed the company’s annual conference where I was able to socialise with our Chief Executive, Willie Paterson.
Who or what inspires you in your day-to-day work?
I am inspired every day to do my best and to help others achieve theirs.
Describe yourself in five words?
Approachable, efficient, easygoing, happy, loyal.
Who is your role model or hero outside work and why?
I don’t really have a role model or hero. I like snippets of a lot of different people for various reasons.
Describe your perfect day off, what do you like to do?
My wife and I like riding out on my motorbike visiting various scenic locations then dropping the bike off and meeting up with friends for a boozy lunch. The day would finish in the garden with a game of corn hole, a dip in the hot tub, a nice cigar and a glass of wine.
