Two minutes with… Stuart Sadler

Describe your remit and responsibilities as Business Development Manager at Asset Alliance Group (AAG).

As a Business Development Manager for the Midlands and the South East, I look after customers from Sheffield to Felixstowe down to Luton. There’s a mixture of account management and seeking new business wins in the role: I can be helping customers source a single 7.5-tonne truck one minute, through to arranging the financing for fleets of articulated trucks and trailers the next.

What do you enjoy most about working for AAG?

We have a good group of people here with a great understanding of the requirements, challenges and opportunities within the road transport industry, and that’s good company to keep. The aspect I enjoy the most about my role is being out and about meeting the customers, discussing their needs, and helping them fulfil them so that their businesses can grow and succeed.

What’s the best thing about your team/department?

I work with a great Sales Director, Paul Wright, who is always approachable and a pleasure to meet customers with. We complement each other at meetings, as one of us can typically field an answer to a question that the other doesn’t know to make sure we meet the needs of the customer. Overall, the AAG team has a good dollop of experience in its makeup and it’s a strong, positive sales environment to work in.

Can you offer an example of the positive company culture at AAG and supportive management?

AAG has a great product offering, which as a salesman makes a huge difference. It’s something you can really get behind knowing its strengths, as well as the ways we can work with our customers to support them, whether that’s fleet renewals or the growth of their road transport operation due to new business.

Who or what inspires you in your day-to-day work?

I often look to Richard Branson, who is dyslexic, for inspiration. He consequently left school at 15 and struck out on his own, ultimately founding Virgin Group with a can-do attitude.  He has several quotes that are often repeated, but the gist of his outlook is that it’s better to accept a challenge and learn through doing it than fear failure so much that you never try anything new or intimidating.

Describe yourself in five words.

Driven, Approachable, Straightforward, Friendly, Positive.

Describe your perfect day off, what do you like to do?

I love to be somewhere warm, with the option of water sports. A Jet Ski or a spot of paddle boarding to start and a sea view and cold lager to round off the day.
