Two Minutes With… Andrew Morley

Describe your remit and responsibilities as Commercial Director, Commercial Vehicles at Asset Alliance Group.

I support Paul Wright, our Commercial Vehicle Sales Director, and the Commercial Vehicle team at large in our efforts as a Group to drive sales, which includes exploiting new business sectors and customer opportunities.  This requires collaboration with many internal colleagues to ensure that we can support our growth aspirations. One such example is working closely with Rob Gwynn, our Strategic Development Manager, to develop and deliver our Alternative Fuel Strategy. I am a great believer that if we aren’t talking to our customers about alternative fuel solutions, then somebody else will be.

What do you enjoy most about working for Asset Alliance Group?

During my first months with the business, I have been very fortunate to visit all of Asset Alliance Group’s (AAG) sites. What struck me the most was the warm welcome that I received, the professionalism of the team, and the offer of help that was always on hand.

What’s the best thing about your team/department?

The spirit, ambition and determination to succeed in what is, after all, a very competitive market. Equally, with the various finance options available to the team to sell, we are in a far better position than several of our competitors who are restricted in what they can provide.

Can you offer an example of the positive company culture at AAG and supportive management?

When I joined the business, my line manager, Michael Bycroft, Managing Director at AAG, devoted some quality time to me over several days, making sure that I was introduced to all the colleagues that I would be interacting with in my new position. This was invaluable given my remit.

Who or what inspires you in your day-to-day work?

Coming to work to go the extra mile in everything that I do, and to make a difference for the business and our customers is what inspires me the most. At the same time, I know that I cannot deliver against my personal objectives without the support of everyone around me. We have some very strong growth aspirations, and it is important that I play my part in delivering these.

Describe yourself in five words.

Driven, Conscientious, Diligent, Confident and Supportive.

Who is your role model or hero outside work, and why?

My father, who was in the police force for 30 years. He was always very professional and courteous, enjoyed life, and was a very caring individual. His personal ambition was to see his children do well in life. This is the same ethos that I have maintained for my son who is now an Equine Veterinary Surgeon and Dentist, living in Australia with his wife and my first granddaughter.

Describe your perfect day off, what do you like to do?

Spending the day on Brancaster Beach in Norfolk with my wife and our dogs with a picnic and a bottle of dry rosé wine.
