News Summary:
- The DAFs join Intake Transport’s fleet as part of its commitment to run modern vehicles.
- The contract hire trucks via Asset Alliance Group have R&M contracts for peace of mind.
- Reliability is paramount, with the new DAFs transporting loads across the UK and Ireland.
Asset Alliance Group has supplied Intake Transport with six new DAF XG 530 trucks with tag axles, and one heavy haulage DAF XG+ 530 with a twin-wheel tag axle configured for 80-tonne operations.
While the company continues to diversify, steel remains at the heart of its business, and the new vehicles, which have been taken on contract hire with the manufacturer’s repair and maintenance cover included, will support customers in the structural steelwork, fabrication and steel manufacturing sectors.
Jamie Pierce, Director at Intake Transport, says: “Since acquiring the business in 2024, we have focused heavily on investing in both our fleet and our people. The latest additions demonstrate our ambition to provide customers with modern, reliable vehicles whilst ensuring our drivers have the very best equipment available to carry out their work safely and efficiently.
“We believe investing in our people and the quality of the equipment they operate is fundamental to delivering exceptional customer service and supporting the continued growth of the business.”
Including the new arrivals, Intake Transport has taken 12 new DAF tractor units from Asset Alliance Group since it was acquired by brothers Jamie and Fraser Pierce.
The addition of the DAF XG+ further strengthens the haulier’s heavy haulage capabilities and allows it to support increasingly complex transport requirements across the UK. DAF’s flagship models have, after an initial trial facilitated by Asset Alliance Group, proven themselves in terms of driver comfort, reliability and overall operational performance, and are now a cornerstone of Intake Transport’s ongoing renewal programme.
“Asset Alliance Group has demonstrated a strong understanding of our business and operational requirements throughout our relationship. The service provided, together with a competitive and flexible funding solution, has made them a valued partner in supporting our ongoing fleet investment programme,” says Jamie.
Reliability remains paramount for the business, with the new DAFs transporting loads across the UK and Ireland and away from base for five or six days each week. It is why contract hire works well for the business, keeping the fleet fresh and making use of the dealership network to service and maintain the trucks.
The deal was facilitated by Asset Alliance Group Area Sales Manager John Scott. The vehicle livery was handled by Write on Signs in Perth.
Intake Transport currently operates 15 tractor units and approximately 100 specialist trailers, including flat trailers, triple extenders, semi-low loaders and low loader equipment. The new trucks will operate from the company’s Scunthorpe and Glasgow depots, supporting customers nationwide.
